EDUCATOR INFORMATION ON ODE WEBSITE

Posted on the Ohio Department of Education's website is the certification (or licensure) and assignment information for every educator in Ohio's public schools. This information was posted in response to requirements in the federal ESEA (No Child Left Behind) Act that require schools, upon request, to inform parents about the credentials of their child's teacher. ODE posted the information on the website to provide parents with another avenue to it.

Any person may review educators credentials by going to the ODE website www.ode.state.oh.us, then navigating to the Center for the Teaching Profession, and then the page, educator information. The person may initiate the search by using the first or last name of the educator and/or the school district name. The report will include: (1) grade level and content area of the certification or licensure held by the educator and (2) the latest-reported employing school district and assignment.

Please note that the certification/licensure information is current to this school year; and the latest-reported assignment might be for the previous school year.

If there is an error in the latest-reported assignment, the educator should inform the school district to update the EMIS report.

(Note: It frequently is easier/quicker to reach a certification/licensure consultant in the regional office than in the main office in Columbus)
