Standing Committees of the Association (Bylaws, Article 8)
Grievance Committee (Mark Hill, chair)
Meets on as-needed basis to review grievance claims and make recommendations regarding Association support in possible arbitration cases.
Legislative Committee (Mark Hill, chair)
Monitors and reports on state and federal legislation and organizes member lobbying activities.
Member Communications Committee (Henry Hale, chair)
Provides support in development of local Web site, newsletters, and other means of communication with members.
Elections Committee (Brian Morgan, chair)
Prepares and conducts WEA elections, including those for NEA and OEA delegates, WEA officers, and contract ratification.
Membership Committee (Lee Ann Parsons, chair)
-Responsible for distribution, collection and completion of yearly membership forms.
-Organizes and distributes membership materials for prospective members.
-Assists with planning and facilitation of new teacher initiatives.
Ad Hoc Committees
WEA Political Action Committee (WEA-PAC)
-Screens and make recommendations in local school board elections.
-Coordinates Association involvement in levy and bond issue campaigns.
-Organizes fundraising efforts for WEA-PAC and OEA Fund for Children and Public Education.
Community Relations Committee
Develops strategies for improving community relations and coordinating public outreach efforts.
Student Scholarship Committee
Responsible for nomination and selection process for recipient of WEA Dependent Scholarship.
